Comming Up

 I DON'T KNOW
,,,,,,,,,

I guess it makes sense to do another couple of paintings, now that I've got a better hang of it.
I really like Bosch's work .

I guess I wanted to multiple smaller paintings, but a lot of them all related to one another some way
so it can be still be viewed as one whole piece/series and can stand on its own

3rd Project - Hybrid

30X30 CANVAS
MODELING PASTE
ACRYLIC PAINT
MATTE MEDIUM
PALLET KNIFE

TADA!!!!
SUCCESSSSSSSSSSSSSS

One of the most successful paintings I did this semester. Although what I wanted to convey in this painting failed. There was too much elements.....

Howeverrrrrrrrr

its still good

I wanted to combine mechanics, human, and animals all together. Nobody could see my butterfly, even though I put on a couple of layers of matte medium over it. Since I painted with a pallet knife, the matte medium did not work.
What a waste of money.

I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT...
black background works well for me
and the use of
very very very
very
very
thick paint.
uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

2nd Project

CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY
BROWN INK
RICE PAPER
CALLIGRAPHY BRUSH

Not a successful project nether less, I enjoyed making it.....

a lot....

Anyways, what I did was that I took the chinese character of raccoon and added some animal-
istic features to the word. Took me a while to get to the look I wanted. Sadly, I threw out all my practice versions, except the one below.
I was planning to work on much larger scale, but for some reason the big ones just did not look as right as the small one that is above.

The assigment was to research on an animal and based on what we learned incorportate that information into something is related to product design.

I made a logo?????

oh well, there you go.
My new invented word

1st Project

3 CANVAS
ARCYLIC PAINT
MODELING PASTE
PALLET KNIFE

It is an abstract painting that deals with the concept of the roles being switched between humans and animals in a traditional painting. Instead of the humans, us, observing the animals in the painting, the animal is looking out to the humans.

What i focused on in this painting was the texture of the paint created by the pallet knife. The pallet knife that I use did not have typical 'tear drop' or 'semi round' shape. The shape was more similar to a tool that is used to apply cake icing. I can't describe it......

The black canvas served as background that supports the two canvas in the front and acts a border. Additionally, the front two canvas can stand alone as an abstract piece, but when viewed together it forms the eyes of a tiger.

It was very annoying. When I finished the two canvas in the front, it looked really "off" if I just displayed them along. So I decided to use another canvas at the back to anchor the two paintings in the front.
